Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment
Our ergonomic risk assessment services help businesses identify, evaluate, and control ergonomic hazards in compliance with DOSH and the requirements under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994. Get thorough on-site assessments and recommendations to reduce injury risk, improve worker wellbeing, and enhance productivity.

What Is an Ergonomic Risk Assessment?
An ergonomic risk assessment is an evaluation of workplace tasks, workstations, tools, and work processes to identify physical risk factors that could lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) — injuries affecting muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and joints. Common MSDs include back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and neck and shoulder disorders.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, employers have a general duty to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of their workers, which includes identifying and managing ergonomic hazards. DOSH has also issued specific Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health for Ergonomics to assist employers in managing ergonomic risks systematically.
Ergonomic risk factors commonly assessed include:
- Awkward or static postures
- Repetitive movements and high task frequency
- Forceful exertions and manual handling loads
- Contact stress and pressure points
- Vibration — hand-arm and whole-body
- Workstation layout, equipment design, and work environment factors
Ergonomic Risk Assessment Methods
Our assessors are trained in a range of internationally recognised ergonomic assessment tools, selected based on the nature of the tasks and hazards involved:
Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA)
A widely used observational tool for assessing whole-body posture risk in tasks involving unpredictable postures, commonly used in healthcare, manufacturing, and construction.
Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA)
Focused on upper limb exposure, particularly suitable for sedentary or light assembly work where neck, shoulder, and arm postures are the primary concern.
Manual Handling Assessment Charts (MAC)
A structured tool for evaluating the risk of manual handling tasks including lifting, carrying, and team handling operations.
NIOSH Lifting Equation
A quantitative method for evaluating two-handed manual lifting tasks and establishing recommended weight limits for specific lifting conditions.
HAV and WBV Assessment
Hand-Arm Vibration and Whole-Body Vibration measures the vibration exposure for workers using power tools or operating vehicles and mobile machinery.
Workstation Assessment
Detailed evaluation of office and computer workstations, including desk height, chair adjustment, monitor positioning, keyboard and mouse placement, and lighting conditions.
Our Ergonomic Risk Assessment Process
Pre-Assessment Review
We begin with a review of your workplace layout, job descriptions, incident and ill-health records, and any existing ergonomic concerns raised by workers or supervisors to prioritise tasks and workstations for assessment.
On-Site Observation and Task Analysis
Our qualified assessors observe workers performing their actual tasks under normal working conditions, recording postures, movements, forces, and durations.
Risk Evaluation
Each assessed task or workstation is evaluated and scored using the appropriate assessment methodology, producing a clear risk rating.
Worker Consultation
We engage directly with workers and supervisors during the assessment, as their experience and knowledge of task variability and discomfort symptoms is invaluable to a complete and accurate risk picture.
Ergonomic Risk Assessment Report
We prepare a comprehensive report detailing assessment findings, risk scores, photographic evidence, and prioritized recommendations for ergonomic improvements.
Why Choose Us
Qualified Ergonomic Recommendations
We are trained across a full range of ergonomic assessment tools and select the most appropriate methodology for your specific tasks and hazards, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
